Taking a break from old copper and going with nickel I love the Liberty Head nickels so that's my recent work in progress. I've got 2 of the toughies out of the way (85, 12-S) and a couple others. Going with F12 and above. I'll save the 1913 for the end So what are your recent endeavors? *** Moved by Staff to a more appropriate forum. ***swcoin.ecrater.com

I was at the fun show and realized I don't have a set of walking liberties. I have a few but never bothered actually organizing into a set. Well I am off and running with it now. Just doing a circulated, "pull from junk silver" set.

I've snubbed Washington quarters as "boring" for too long. Working on 32-47 set only. They are quite beautiful in higher grades although some (1936-D) seem nearly impossible to find with strong strikes.

I think I collect all US coins. Many Albums were started but sort of put aside as the cost of many of the coins just got out of hand. My Sitting Liberty Dimes sort of came to a halt for that reason. Bust coins are way to expensive now. Only two left in my Large Cent Album but it is Year only. I think it's about time I tried for the 2 Cent coins.

2 Cent coinage is a very seldom mentioned set.

Very gradually pulling together a pre-1934 Mercury dime and walking liberty set. Bought a few key walkers and assorted mercuries at my local pawn shop...just lucky to stumble upon that. Planning to buy just those Dansco pages and a blank binder. Looking to work on a G-VG set first and then maybe do a second F-VF/XF set down the road; with supplemental semi-key date purchases to round out investment potential (i.e., common dates just for fun in filling holes). Everyone I mention this plan to says the same thing (at LCS and here at CCF): why just pre-1934?

I'm a scatter brain, so, I have many sets running and will purchase almost any coin I don't have (if it's in my price range) to fill a hole. I recently began to get serious about old copper. I'm also working on Barber quarters and Seated quarters (will likely never finish that one). Give me a month or two and I'm sure I'll be focused on another series. I go a lotta Dansco's with a lotta holes. I like them all!

Have not finished my MS Lincoln set (09 to present) - but - VERY close. Key dates are done (have not upgraded the 14 D to MS though. Washington quarters - close, very close. Couple early dates are tough to find in good quality (as in, not being messed with - AU coin at MS price!!) Buffs...oh those wonderful buffs. HARD set to grade within the various years and mints. Very unique series. IHC - another set, always in process of adding to. Neither of the two keys in hand.

Not sure if I made a mistake ... But I went a little crazy a few months ago. Bought several new Dansco albums. Large cent Three album set modern Commemorative dollars Classic commemorative type album All three Barber albums dime, quarter and Half dollar Three Cent nickel/Two cent album I had a lot of coins sitting in 2X2 boxes that went into these albums. I like them much better in the albums. I hope that now with coins come into LCS's in my area, that catch my eye, and if I can buy them, I will have a place to put them. The three album modern Commemorative doable albums are becoming some of my favorites in my collection. I would recommend the Three Cent nickel/Two cent album. It has a page for the 3CN and a page for the Two Cent coins. I have a few coins in each page and want to get more. I am doing them in circulation grades, so far the price per coin has not been to bad.

Forgot to say Congrats on doing the Liberty head nickel set. I do like them a lot. More so when they get into the Fine or better grades. I have mine in a Dansco that goes from 1883 to 1983. My Liberty head page is still missing the 85, 86 and 12S. I pulled most of my from bulk V nickel bins. When I do find fine or better grades I try to upgrade. When is do see nice examples posted here on CCF, makes me want to do some more upgrading. Looking forward to seeing the progress on your set.

I've taken another look at my Buffalo nickel set, which is missing the 13d&s type 2, and there are some I'm not happy with in there. My next coin is the 13-d then I'm going to do some upgrading. My criteria was original coins with readable dates but a few have enviromental damage, and a few are not 4 digit dates (which are clear enough). So moral of the story to new collectors, take your time and do it right the first time. And enjoy the Liberty nickels Dave, I know you'll do it right the first time. My other "next coin" was to be the 1886 but I'm going with a nice 13d buff instead.

I have started a Peace dollar collection...about halfway done. It is mostly in AU condition. Been thinking about upgrading those coins to MS.
