My ride for the NIA show in Muncie, Indiana gets here tomorrow morning early.

Looking forward to spending time with my other hobby family. My sales stock this time will be just copies of my book.

Last year CCF member Buddy and her husband came just so we could all meet and have a good time together. Its already been a year, which is hard to believe. It was so great meeting both of them.

Insulators take up a lot more space than coins do. So although it would sound crazy to attend a coin show and not get a new coin for the collection, I don't plan on getting any new insulators!

...Of course, for the last couple years of shows I have said the same thing and only been able to make it come true once

I want to insul-downsize. I just don't have enough room for more - I can see about 500 of them on display from where I am sitting right now. I likely have that many more in stored in totes under the stairs in the basement (we won't count the massive amount displayed outside).

But oh my! The sun looks beautiful passing through the window and picking up their colors in early morning light (300 of them in the window)!

So we shall see...

Might not have email either so will be back online likely Monday or Tuesday.

Back from the National Insulator show in Muncie, IN and am still totally stunned. At the end of the show, there is always an awards banquet. From the NIA website:

Quote:
A "NIA Lifetime Membership" may be presented to any NIA member for cumulative meritorious service to the NIA or the insulator-collecting hobby. The Awards and Recognition Committee receives nominations from the membership and delivers the nominations to the NIA president. The NIA President prepares, distributes and tabulates ballots for this award

They honored my wife and I with the award!

Being a former teacher, I am used to being in front of people. But this was a totally different situation. I was very humbled and a bit nervous going up in front of all those people to receive the award (my wife, for the first time, was not able to be with me at a major show - it would have been nice to have her at my side).

It still seems like it was a dream (and a dream come true!), and it made for a night I surely will never forget. I still am humbled, yet on a high!

Lee/Tammy, thought of you this weekend when I was visiting friends who live near the ocean and saw this wind-chime sculpture made from insulators (I think anyway...)
