Gold plated quarters, paoinede ASE's, ASE's with halo painting, all should be considered defacing ,of the coinage! HSN, Horse what network? It reeks of hen-house ways.

Given how big the collector-investor craze has become, junk like this was inevitable. Ever seen Coin Vault? It's like watching con-men troll for an easy mark.

Someday all this HSN and CV stuff will be dirt cheapat garage sales.

Yes, yes it is. But we need to remember that items like that are targeted to non collectors unlike us. The 24K hologram quarters are just trippy.

We need a coin program that has honest hosts and doesn't sell you junk or over charge.

It already is, I see this stuff and Fraklin Mint garbage come into my local shop everyday. He buys it for melt and that's it. This summer he had a complete set of these little cars engraved on silver bars from Franklin Mint. It has like 100 of them in a display case. Obviously, somebody subscribed to the "plan" and collected them for a long, long time. No idea what they paid, but it must have cost at least $1000-1500 to complete. My dealer bought them FOR BELOW MELT (hey, he's gotta make a profit). I almost made him an offer because it was actually neat, I could have bought the collection for a hair over melt or at melt. Man, of course silver skyrockets after that. LOL

I was just wondering myself if anyone besides me thinks HSN, coin vault, Coin Country, ect was all a bunch of overpriced junk!
I hate it when they say this is the cheapest place to buy it and I will quit if I am lying to you. Everything I have seen is like 50% mark up and they will say make me an offer and someone will bid low and he will say dont ask for 20 or 30 percent off the price b/c there not marked up that high. Dont get me wrong if there is nothing on I watch it just to see the coins "Matter of Fact watching Coin Country right now" But never interested in purchasing.

You guys are not helping!!

I now see the errors of my newbie ways and after close magnified inspection of the first set of Presidential dollars I received I will be canceling the rest. Lots of abrasions/bag marks on the regular coins. The "reverse proofs" while nice looking to the naked eye, under 10x magnification look from crap! The "process" they use pretty much obliterates the lettering around the rim.

Ugh. I am a fool and you guys rubbing it in is not helping my self esteem. My wallet yes! My self esteem is in the dumpster...

Yes, I bought them before I found you guys and gals. Yes I am eternally grateful for you alerting me to this most egregious error before I spent over $1,200 over the next 8 years for the whole set.

I too have wondered who would actually buy those outrageously-priced coins that get pitched on cable channels in the middle of the night, and I think it's probably mostly grandmothers and bachelor uncles buying gifts for the kids in the family. Anybody who knows enough about coins to want to collect a few would know better. At least, I hope they would.

It is because of sellers like these that CCF was formed in the first place. Please be careful not to insult anyone who purchased from them before they educated themselves.

It is easy to believe the hype that these sellers deliver. It is our job to explain why these coins are not a good deal and to help collectors find better places to purchase from.

Anyone who has purchased from any of these places and then discovered CCF is already aware that they have made a mistake. While I certainly see the humorous angle on this topic, please remember that there are people who got ripped off by these places and we need to help them.

Jan, I need only look at the other stuff for sale on HSN to understand who'd buy those coins. If it aint a mop that picks your nose and cooks hot dogs -- and it aint a ring that's got 1000 diamond chips not worth a darn separately or collectively -- and it aint a PC with a 8,760,000 gigabyte hard drive (with dial-up technology only), then it's a 1955 tripled die Walking Capped Barber Tuppence minted in Oakland with Bobby Seale on one side (in his beret (cap) and Redd Foxx on the other (balded by a barber)-- and THEN, it's a $30 Washington quarter.

BUY ME NOW !!!!! Hurry, while supplies left.....only ummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm...........2 left......39299 easy payments of $1...

Supplies !!.............errrrrrrrrrrrr.............I mean, SURPRISE !
