So, I recently ordered a CAPS album page to check them out, since I really like storing coins in capsules but also envy a nice album. I popped in one of the coins in an Air-Tite that I had nearby, just to see... and promptly regretted doing so when it got stuck. I eventually got the thing back out, but now that particular space in the page has a few, um, dents. Is there some trick to this? Has anyone else had trouble removing things from these pages? and I own several CAPS albums. Mostly for modern coins and yes, removing and reinserting is tricky. I have a few dented pages myself. I am hoping with some practice I will get better at it. If I mess any of them up too much I noticed they sell all the pages individually so I will just replace the page. So far none of them are dented to that point...yet

Thanks, Debrajc! Ah, good, I was beginning to think that I was the only one. It's unfortunate that you don't know of some trick to it, yet. I'm the sort of person who is constantly reorganizing things. I could've kicked myself for sticking a random coin smack in the middle of a new page; thought that one might just have to stay there!

I have only tried to remove one Air-Tite from a CAPS page because it was misaligned, and yeah, it wasn't exactly easy to get out. Funny, because that's one of their marketing points. "Easy in, easy out." (or something like that) Fortunately, replacement pages aren't terribly expensive, just $5. Of course, the shipping will be more than the replacement... leverite! What CAPS album/page did you order?

Thank you, CelticKnot! Yeah, I was a little dismayed since I was hoping for something easy to adjust, but I suppose no storage system is perfect. I just really like being able to take out and examine a particular coin. Hopefully my coins won't do much turning since they're that tight, or the slight unevenness will drive me mad.
I ordered an empty page for the T size capsules to see how well they work, and figured I could recruit someone with good handwriting to label the blank page if I ended up using it. I'm considering making a CAPS album for my toned coins since it cuts down on extra layers while having good protection, and because about half of those are world coins so I don't have to worry about the variety of diameters as much. Still not sure how I want to go about organizing them on the pages, though, so I've got a bit of planning to do there (hard with such an open-ended project). What do you use yours for?

I was looking to for a way to save space in my safe, and realized that if I moved out all the OGP for my ASEs, I'd save a ton of room. I still wanted to protect my ASEs and not just have the capsules loose in my safe, so I decided to go for the 2 CAPS ASE albums (2228 and 2229). This solution allows me to save space, organize my ASEs, and (perhaps best of all even though not my original goal) make them easy to display. Maybe a suggestion for the CAPS folks would be to put a finger-sized through hole in each of the Air-Tite recesses to aid in popping the capsules out. I could do that with my drill press if I really wanted to go to the effort, but since the pages are composed of two pieces, doing so might allow moisture to gather between the layers.

Oh, I know about the custom pages (such a cool option), I just mean for the blank one I already have. I might still have to label these myself though, since the character count was too limited compared to what I want, if I remember correctly.
An album full of Silver Eagles! I bet those two look great. They really do seem like a nice, clean solution versus just stacks of capsules loose or in tubes.
Interesting idea on the holes; I wish I had the tools to do a little experimenting with my page.

I spent a couple of hours this afternoon starting to move my PDSS Kennedy halves from a Dansco to the CAPS. Next will be my Franklin halves. My Jefferson nickles have been moved already. And CelticKnot (as well as Cascade) nudged me into getting a CAPS for my Silver Eagles as well so that one needs to be filled as well. The next one I will buy will be for my Roosevelt dimes. I too like the look of them although they do take up MUCH more space.

I have one more album but can't find it right now. Lots of work ahead moving more coins As you can see I am missing a few slip covers too.

Wow, nice set you've got there! Have you done anything with the custom page option? I didn't realize the binders had slip covers, too - I've been concentrating on the pages and haven't even looked into the rest yet. What ended up being your main motivator for the switch from Dansco?

Thanks Leverite! I hope you post some pictures too someday soon too. I also like the slip covers. As far as my main motivation let me first say....I REALLY like Dansco albums. Like some others I started out my coin collection putting very well circulated coins in the folder type books. Last year I replaced my folders with Danscos but for the "modern" coins with proofs I like these CAPS. So I will keep my worn out Mercury dime set, Indian head and early Lincoln set, my Barber half dollar set etc. in my Dansco albums but the current coinage or sets that contain proof coins are getting moved to these. I like the added protection. I have not done a "custom" page option but I am sure I will someday. I have a fair amount of World Bullion from around the world and my wheels are turning as to how to display it better

Wow, that's a great looking collection of CAPS albums, Debrajc! Quote: Lots of work ahead moving more coins. "Work." If that's work, I wanna hire on and get a paycheck.

Thanks CelticKnot. Got them all moved and I would have loved some help! I have arthritis in my left hand and things like this can be a little tough. I would have paid you

Bumping an old thread, as I just moved some Classic Commems from a Dansco to CAPS, since the price of some was getting too risky for a slide fiasco. These are generic Half Dollar size blank pages. When things get more permanent (still constantly shuffling) I'll get the label maker out. Most of the holes are 'just right' and a little push on one edge, the other edge pops up. Some of the holes are too big, and every time I turn the page, the coin/airtight fall out -- easy fix, I cut slivers/shims out of some old Whitman slides. Some of the holes are too tight, and like the OP, they are buggers and I was afraid of denting the plastic, so for now they stay. Drilling a hole as mentioned above is probably the best of the worst options. With the Blank pages, the plastic pages are already separated with the blank paper/date page in the very back. Looks like that could even be upgraded if you have a big enough hole puncher (or a friend who is a graphic artist)

Might be a little late to the party here but I just started with the CAPS albums and had to remove and shift some A-type capsules. Picking up on a post I saw, I used a shot glass over which I centered each capsule to be removed. A quick pop using the butt of my palm and the capsule fell into the glass. Repeat as necessary. No dents in the plastic and works like a charm. I suppose any small cylinder having a low center of gravity and which slightly covers the opening would also work for this size -- and for the larger capsule sizes. Hope this helps --
