Some people attach great value to objects owned/ worn by famous people. Logic does not apply.

Trying to see if a Ted Williams fan will pay a big sum for a coin he owned?

Basically the listing is stating this was a coin that was a part of Ted Williams, the famous baseball legend, coin collection.

We will see in 29 days if someone is willing to buy that coin at that price.

I assume the grade "Genuine" means that the coin is real. I don't why there is not a condition grade. Maybe someone else can answer that.

I am always surprised at the prices people pay for items that once belonged to famous entertainers or athletes.

Presidents, authors, and astronauts ... well, that just makes sense.

The LCS here, sold some Ted Williams collection 1oz gold eagles.

For the same price as other gold eagles.

To me .. that is just a 1942 circulated nickel

Proving my ignorance... Who the heck is Ted Williams, and why would I care that it's his coin?

Take it out of the slab and you have a coin worth about 25¢.
I see no extra value in coins attributed to some renown individual.
And that includes Eliasberg and other of his ilk.

"but it's from the ted williams collection!1!!1!"... my guess is that the seller is clueless about coins and looked up "ted Williams coins" and saw gold coins from his collection going for about the same price?

I once bid on a coin from the collection of President John Quincy Adams. I didn't win and it wasn't any where near this ridiculously priced, but I did think it would be neat to own a coin he once held in his hands.

Paul, I might have bid on something like that, too. But there is a limit -- always.

For that kind of money, it should include a baseball autographed by Ted Williams
