Lots of beautiful die cracks and other things going on here!
MS63RB, the appearance is due to mid-late die state / die wear, not strike issues (we can see that the tips of the headband feathers are fully struck.) Using Rick's new system, I would call it a 63 (12: 4,3,5 40%RB)
Looks like the shallow "N" reverse to me... ;) Can't see the denticles but S-4 if no MPD and S-5 if date in denticles..super nice Indian and scarce to boot.

It might just make the RB designation. I'm at 63 as well. Beautiful coin!

I really don't see that many MS Indian Head cents. I do know I wish I had a complete set that looks just like this one. I can see MS 63 .. like posted above. The soft look of the wreath had my attention, but paralyse seems to offer a good reason why it looks that way.

I'm far from expert on these, I'm sure someone will be along that can offer more insight.

I agree with 63 but I'm a little concerned with the tone. I use the simple method of determining AT which is that if the colors are splotchy or spotty, it may be AT. If the colors do not radiate, rather than appear whole, it adds to my doubt. It is a lovely example, regardless, but I think I'd be crossing my fingers if I sent this to a TPG.

It is the S-4 Shallow N reverse, a very scarce coin. Nice catch Paralyse! I knew it was the shallow N when I bought it, which is why I bought it. Seller did not catch it.
It's not going to be graded, probably going to place it in my type set, or Indian head set.
At $400, this was a steal. If I were to sell it, it would probably list for $2K.

Very attractive coin and you got it at an excellent price apparently.
I too would be concerned by the color. Grading services are often very fussy about toned copper coins and there would be a distinct possibility that this would be judged to have artificial toning if submitted. If however the coin will find a home in the OP's raw set any AT concerns would be beside the point.

I've seen lots of IHC's with this color that were not AT/recolored, and also quite a few that were. It's always a dice roll. I think this one has a good bit of original color remaining.

This one looks MS, but I am not sure anout the color. It would probably get "Questionable Color" from PCGS.
