Just my opinion, but I think acid date restored nickels have better eye-appeal when the whole coin is restored and not just the date area.
No question about it though.....you got one!

I agree, but what if I try it and the date pops off?
I would be one sad puppy!

You could try masking the date area that has already been acid treated with some removeable tape and then hitting the coin with acid again. Do each side seperately.
I'd suggest practicing on some other coins first to get the hang of it and see what kind of results you can expect.
After your done, send it off to ANACS and get it slabbed.

I plan on getting it slabbed.
What I like about this one is that the date came off so bold, others don't do that!

There's no question about the 1918/7--great job! I have been wondering--what's the value for a restored date like this?

EXCELLENT find! congratulations..might I suggest giving it a lil bit of time as a pocket piece or something like that to make it look more natural and eye appealing?

What would be the approximate value for this acid dated coin?

Quote: I have been wondering--what's the value for a restored date like this? $150-$200 if I am lucky. I think this one will fetch a little more because of how bold it is.

If you did that the date would immediately disappear. You can rub the date right off just using your thumb, it's that fragile. I did that once trying to make it look better. You can get it right back though.
