Thanks jbuck. Coinlover1899 it was the first one I had seen don't know if it's actually from 1946 or that's just the penny they had to stick in it but if anyone knows I would like to know. The only problem is finding something to store it in .

It won't fit in a dollar size 2X2? If not you can get crown size 2 1/2 X 2 1/2 holders. They will hold pieces up to about 50 mm. (silver dollar is 38 mm)

You know condor101 I didn't even try it in a dollar 2x2. I just now held it up to a regular 2x2 and I think it will fit. I didn't even think of it lol old age and tunnel vision brain .

I remember having one of these as a child along with an irradiated dime from the Atomic Museum in Oak Ridge TN. Unfortunately they have been lost or miss placed over the years. Great pick up!

Thanks debrajc, sounds like you had the cool coins as a kid. I remember the irradiated nickel I saw one at school when I was a kid .

Nice pickup. I have several of these Encased Cents, that I have acquired over the years. I do find them interesting and keep a eye out for more.
