At first glance I was thinking EF... but there's also something that says to me weak strike and possible AU... it's the jewels in the crown that really have me going back and forth.

At least high AU if in the hands of PCGS. Maybe a few very light hairlines or maybe even an unc grade..

Nice nickel..

au to ms62 near from what I see. In hand may change my opinion. I would ask the vf ef crowd to please expand and show me wear? This is the hardest series to grade in all of Canadian numismatics. I submit that the tail of the mustache, two jewels of the crown as well as the band of crown below the missing jewels were never there. Typical of the series. IMO

I agree with nickelsguy. My first thought was MS61-62, but in hand all the flecks in the fields might get it AU55-58. Different lighting angle and I bet the second pair of jewels is faintly there. The reverse looks pretty well struck. Even on high MS the interior of the left leaf is often indistinct. Nice coin. Most of these got spent to death.

Too many large dings and too much luster kill for MS IMO
"Dipping" is not considered cleaning...

Mike (nickelsguy) has "painstakingly" tried to teach me how to better grade this series.

When looking at the reverse, take note of the tips of the 2 leaves. If they look perfect and untouched..then you're looking a higher grade nickel and possibly unc or choice unc..and of course the obverse is the main grading side..

This coin does show some fine hairline marks "in a set direction" across the both sides unfortunately.. but just ever so little..

Still a very nice nickel..IMHO..

I have a tough time grading these George V nickels. Often I'm not certain if it's wear or a weak strike. In this case I'm opting for weak strike and going AU-53.
