Here is a very nice repunch 9

Any thoughts on this one would be very much appreciated! The obverse and the reverse have lamination flaws, and I do not see any wear on this cent. May have been cleaned at one time? A very nice 1859! What do you guys think? and how would you grade it?

Yours is very early in the striking cycle, judging from the small length of the vine break at leaf 7 ... it gradually got much bigger as more dies were struck from the hub (it broke off in small pieces from the hub). We listed your coin on p 290 of the 2011 (65th edition) of Charlton (in the Vicky variety section in the back)where it's $200 in XF & $500 in AU. It's fairly scarce .. nice find! I'd give it an AU-55-58, with a little wear showing on the eyebrow and lower hair tuft under the ear, but it's been cleaned at some time.... scratches on the Obv fields and that may drop the grade.

I've heard the '59 is the king of Can. lg. cents, as varieties goes.

Seeing your coin, I find it difficult to grade, as double punched digits throw me off, I get to

focusing on the error/variety & pay little attention to the overall condition. Yours has the

added bonus of a lam; partial clash & struck-thru that has me concentrating on these features. For instance, do I add or subtract fot strike-trhroughs?

But, a very nice piece, overall.

Nice one viper great find of a scarce coin in nice condition other than being cleaned but still very hard one to find and in this condition with such detail congrats.

Forgot to mention this coin is one that I'm still looking for.

There do seem to be hairlines that'd probably earn it a "details" annotation if certified, but from a wear/marks standpoint, I'd also be in the high AU camp. A very, very nice ezample for which its minor flaws ought not to detract from the pleasure of ownership.

It's catalogued by Haxby as PC59-221 (obverse 22 + reverse E24)

Beautiful coin MG! I think that's one of the neatest repunched 9's.

Thanks for pointing out the RP 9 page E24 omission DEVLEC. It's there now.
