Anybody else have coins that you just to love own lots of, but don't actually formally collect (i.e., care about getting all dates, mint marks, etc.)? For example, I absolutely love Morgan dollars and have stacks of them, but most are common dates and I just have no desire to put them into albums or try to put together any sort of set. I don't even consider them to be "junk silver" since most of the ones I have are in AU to BU condition and are certainly worth more than just their silver price. Eisenhower dollars are another example for me. Again, I have never tried to complete any sort of set and don't have them organized in any way, but I just hoard them whenever I find them just because I think they're neat to look at. Proof examples especially send shivers up and down my spine and I just can't get enough of them.

Large pennies from Britain and the former colonies. I have 1000s. I even made my own cardboard boxes so I can keep them in boxes of 20 rolls of 50. Absolute madness, of course.

I have a bunch of Challenge coins... I don't collect them, just was given them by friends and at my old job conventions.

I buy and sell 20 c pieces in AU-55 to MS-63. I find a nice one, I buy it and put it up for sale to make a few bucks. There is no possibility of completing the series, though short as it is, so I mostly buy and sell the 1875-S again and again. I usually don't have more than a couple as they are really popular, probably moreso than when they were used.

I would love to own a Pine Tree Shilling in XF grade, but the odds are against it.

Most areas that I collect can't really be "completed", e.g. ancient coins, Indian Princely states, British Colonial... just too much and most of it is too expensive. In particular, I have been in love with but never attempted to complete the French colonial series, featuring Marianne on one side and really pretty scenery on the other. E.g.: https://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces1525.htmlMost are cheap and available, but I have just never felt the drive to attempt a set.

I have a couple of boxes full of non-US coins. I never look at them but I keep adding to the accumulation every time I find one.

Boxes of transportation, tax, love, elongated, car wash, parking, and merchant trade tokens. Plus others I'm sure I'm not remembering right now. Like wooden nickels that I probably have a few thousand of that keep getting tossed in the box. Plus Wheaties that get tossed in quart jars, even if I have to take them out of someone's 2X2's (don't worry, I doubt any are that nifty). Plus all (garbage) kind of US coins like slick V-nickels, very circulated War Nickels, individual modern proof coins I have no interest in, modern dollars that look interesting, and Lord knows what else is hanging around. (just thought of the OPA tokens that I have almost enough of to either search for the MV or sell). Anything that isn't on my goal list probably gets tossed in a box. Since I attend a lot of local coin auctions I usually get quite a stack of "stuff" at cheap prices. Last week I bought 14 recent mint sets for about $2.50 under face value. Those got added to my impossible stack of mint and proof sets that I might someday strip for sets. Stuff - more stuff, some more, and...

For me it's Carson City coins. I always try to make room for one if I see a nice, reasonably priced example. I love the history and nice original examples just bring thoughts of the old west.

I like having a smattering of 1700's 1800's British Copper coins, Condor tokens, period imitation half pennies, farthings and such. I don't chase after them but once in a while I'll pick one up if it really grabs me.

I have an accumulation of foreign coins that I only recently started putting into 2x2s. Almost all of them are worth next to nothing, but I still take in more when I come across them (I even ask people to bring me loose change when they travel).
I have a hard time letting go of small dollars -- at least, SBAs and Sac's. I already have a full album and a slabbed series of proofs, but that doesn't stop me from keeping any others that fall into my hands.
