The Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland is generally among the highest note-issuing districts in this short-lived series, and the $50 denomination was no exception - the original print run was 684K, high for the time even though miniscule by today's standards. The star note of this bank, however, is quite tough (as are the stars of all districts of this denomination), with an original print run of just 12K and only 27 known survivors. This note is a typical 4-fold, and I would grade it VF-30 or so because of the strong horizontal crease. The paper quality is easily EF+ with no evidence of soiling - it did not circulate long. I'll go get a crisp new $50 and swap you out for that creased old thang...

Only 27 known survivors? Wow....very scarce. Glad you have one and I don't think that the fold is all that bad. Creases don't bug me as much as stray ink marks, stains or tears. Nice one.

Wow buddy I am the exact opposite of you. Creases bother me alot while stray ink marks, stains or tears do not.

This scan greatly enhances the horizontal fold; the note is bright and attractive in hand.

Very nice FRBN star Mr.Frog.....with only 27 known, I'd be tempted to have it graded.

Thank you for your kind comments. Only 7 of the Fed districts printed notes in this series, with Dallas having the smallest overall print run at 168K. The smallest star run was for Chicago, however - only 4K notes.

Very nice note. I would also agree you should consider having it graded.
