Thank you all for the compliments and the Ike tributes. I would never have made it this long if not for the many members giving me good reason to remain here and stay engaged. Quote: Not to be pedantic, but there are forums here where posts don't accrue to postcount. In reality, jbuck is undoubtedly over 60k at this point.... Contests forum is one of them. I probably have around 5,000 uncounted posts in 63 seasons of GTP alone.

I've been on this forum for nearly 7 years, probably visiting every day for the past 3-4 years. Jbuck has posted more than my total post count every year for over a decade! That takes a level of dedication I can barely fathom!
Jbuck is omni-present in every forum I frequent, always helpful and encouraging, and in truth, one of the most pleasant and sincere members here on the forum.
Cheers, Jbuck! Here's to the next 50,000!

@spruett.
Confession time. And some people will shudder at this. I do not believe I could name five major teams from football, baseball, basketball etc. QUite honestly, I have to think hard as to where the Cubs are from *as with most other teams(, and even what game they play (I think baseball?).
Oops - just hit me... the name "Chicago Cubs" came to me as I was typing that.
But before someone asks how I can possibly be an American and not like the games, I will give my typical reply. I was fascinated with the natural world outdoors.
I grew up with my best friends being named Crosman, Winchester, and Remington. During my friend the nameless (worn off) old fishing pole was my constant companion. While my peers were enjoying themselves having Super Bowl parties, I was out having fun trying to figure out how Indians easily survived and flourished in the outdoors without modern conveniences.
While the other guys had their favorite football teams and would argue over why theirs was best, I was more interested in seeing how long it would take me to learn to stalk to within arms lengthof a deer or any other wild critter. And as my Dad alwys used to say, "If times ever get rough again, how long will that pigskin keep you alive?
People in his generation were small kids in the Great Depression and then went through Wartime. I understood this as I got older. Hunting and fishing were never hobbies or pastimes, my mindset was these were natural, normal, vital part of life. I felt like my peers were being cheated in life by not understanding, at its most intricate levels, the natural world around them.
I made sure with my own boys I emphasized I thought it was important for them to be able to provide for themselves, but also let them strike their own balance. And I still have absolutely no interest in professional games of any kind.
I never had a problem getting my annual deer (not tree-sitting, hunting - literally), bagging my take of squirrels (only shoot them in the eye with a .22), and taking the daily limit of trout (my three main loves of hunting/fishing). Unfortunately my health now will not let me do any of those things.
So I am assuming Ike was a Cubs fan? And quite honestly, I don't know how serious you are, if its a joke b/c Ike was not a Cubs fan, or if you know maybe jbuck does not like that team and so are having fun!
