Poll Question
Well the poll for the 1st issue was interesting. Let's try version 2.

The 2019, $100.00 platinum coin commemorating the Preamble to the Declaration of Independence is planned to feature the following OBV (original image from USMint.gov):
Poll-#2:-2019-Preamble-To-Declaration-Of-Independence-Platinum-Coin---Like-It?

Poll Choices
I like the artwork of the design.
I wish the artwork were just a Liberty profile like traditional coins were.

Well, I hate to do this as it might influence others opinions. But I could not help myself.

First of all, I like the more simple design with a very prominent Liberty as opposed to the 2018 design. I also like the Conestoga just b/c I do.

However, I will admit, upon first seeing it, I wondered why there was a slightly startled look in her eyes, her mouth was open, and her left knee looks suddenly raised.

The I realized, she is stubbing her toe (or being stung by a scorpion?):

Overall, I like it, but it is one of the least flattering faces I've ever seen on a coin.

The laurel wreath on her head looks just like the swim caps women wore in the 60's.

I suspect she will look less pained in actual coin form.

Not sure how to say this exactly but it's like she looks too human. Most Liberties look more chiseled and even mannequin like. Like the Morgans and Peace have no pupils. The 2016 Liberty Medal looks more human but she is still somewhat chiseled. In my opinion it's an OK looking coin but I'm not a buyer of platinum so I will probably never own one.

I'm guessing she had to make a pit stop in the wagon and is taking her book and torch to the privy.

Again, I reserve judgement for when I see the actual coin. These artist renditions are seldom true representatives of the sculpted image.

@buddy

LOL - I had forgotten - my mother used to have one of those caps and you are correct - exactly like it!

So Liberty is going for a swim and stubs her toe.

looks like a shakespeare hobbit. "hey lady, the wagon to kansas city just left..."

i stubilus toe.um....

i'm an artist. I certainly can appreciate the work that went into this (or any other coin), but these new coins of late are slightly creepy. I enjoy the traditional stately profiles. even the old presidents on coins look so much better than the newer issues. I don't care for the look. just my opinion, but I might enjoy our current coinage more if they were to revert & go retro, give us some throwbacks to the colonial and post-colonial liberty heads, alarming as some of them can be. I think a retro liberty would look better on a coin that commemorates the preamble.

I voted "Other-Please specify", so here's my specify:

If I wrote "Liberty" in cursive like on this coin, my 4th grade teacher would have had me practice writing it until "it looks like English instead of gibberish."

If I were a fly, I would think she's trying to eat me.

She's going to fall over holding that torch up, trying to balance the book, and lifting her left foot off the ground.

And last but not least: OMG she stole my grandmother's bathing cap!

~ Mark

P.S. I do like the theme though. (Preamble to Declaration of Independence)
