First a shoutout to @ron6788, who first referenced these notes a week ago in the "Post your low s/n currency here" thread. I wandered over to the great Collections site and ended up winning the auction for what I thought was a very good price. Quite a super pair in hand, with bright colors and deep embossing. Nice ones Mr. Frog! Is the 1917 series the first bill with George's portrait on it like that?

Thanks, everyone. I was pretty surprised to be honest.
Crazy - That portrait of Washington on the $1 US Note was first used in the Series of 1869 and ran continuously until 1929.

Incidentally, when I tried to figure the value of this pair, I simply added together what I would willingly pay for each note, with no regard for what they might bring as a pair (that's too iffy a bet). Then just backed out the commission and bid.
