Forensicly it appears to be a good coin. Doesn't have the tell-tale palor of the fakes.

The dentils appear to be very accurate and the edge proper. I am in agreement with 999fine - this appears to be a well worn but genuine example.

While most of the common clues to forgery are not present there is a "hint" of the remains of split tail reeding. This happens when the reeding is applied by a tapered ring. The reeds have seams along the top centers of the ridges and the ridges are incomplete near the faces of the coin. This is corrected by artificial wear by grinding off the corners of the coin and around the reeds themselves.

I believe all coins of this type must be tested to determine Specific Gravity. At least that way, you will know you have actual silver and not some sort of white metal.

Weight and details appear to be correct, however any Chinese coin should be test to see if silver (ping test or something like a sg test), since this has been counterfeited to heck and back. If it is silver then it is
Almost certainly genuine. Cant tell for certain with this particular coin just from the pictures.

Is the coin magnetic? I have a dozen of these "coins" - all magnetic, all counterfeit. Look here for a similar discussion:

I used an audio analyzer for ping testing and found an interesting flaw in the common thinking. I have fake coins that do ping at the same frequency as a silver coin, but what is different is the duration. Not easily detected by ear alone unless you record and observe the spectrum against time in an A-B comparison. Meaning that unless a fake coin is obviously a dud, some can sound the same as genuine. It just doesn't ring quite as long.
