What coins have you found? I found some wheat cents, one Roosevelt dime 1947 and one Silver 1941 Washington quarter since last year when I started collecting.

Specify "found"? Do you mean while CRH'ing? Or in change? Or while looking for coins to buy? If the former, I used to find lots of cool older coins almost on a daily basis as I was a cashier at a big wharehouse type store. I would look at all change and bills in every till I used and all that passed through my hands. It made the job exciting to do everyday!

Roll searching, I've found a 1936 Buffalo nickel, a 1974 D Dbl die obv. Kennedy half, and lots of old Jeffersons. However, in the cash register where I work I found a 1923 Buffalo, a 1943 D Mercury dime, a 1945 S silver wartime nickel, several old Jeffersons, several wheat cents, and one night a man paid using exact change and in it was a 1909 VDB Wheat cent in ef condition. I couldn't believe it. I saw the reverse first, and then I checked the date. I immediately turned it over, and sure enough, there was a little VDB in the bottom, just like in the pictures. I never would have thought that a coin that old in that shape could be found in spare change!

There is still old stuff out there, and I think now, more than ever, people are spending many of their old coins, and cashing in those old jars of coins that have been laying around.

In half dollar rolls I've found low-grade 1916, 1918-S, and 1920-S Walkers, plus a few more common Walker dates. I've also found quite a few Franklin half dollars and silver (1964) and silver-clad Kennedys, including one 1970-S impaired proof. My best find was a missing-clad-layer error quarter in MS-63 grade from the change slot of a vending machine.

I too want to know what you mean by finding. On the street? In roll or bag searches? At coin stores? At coin shows? At flea markets?
And no time line given either. For example I've been collecting for over 60 years so if I tried to list what I used to find about 50 or 60 years ago in just change I'd take up a real lot of space here.
Rest in Peace

I was searching through a box of long-lost Presidential Campaign buttons (another hobby), and guess what I found?

Two absolately beautiful British Crowns. That really sparked my interest, so bought two more from a fellow collector. A.U. 1935. 1937.

These coins have become among my all-time favorites.

I hope to save up, and add to the collection.
