Some companies alter coins to make the new collectors think they are getting something special, when they are not what they buyer thinks it is. HSN sold a lot of plated quarters to the Rubes that thought they were getting something special. But instead later they realized that plated coins are just face value to the true collectors. Add to this the 'Avon collectable bottles, 'Beany Babies', glow in the dark plates that were radiated in the 50's. Anything to sell to take advantage of the unwary. People paying big money for collectables that end up not bring the money back to the buyers. This happens a lot on
ebay.
Machine Doubling selling for huge prices and on the same day, true variety coins going for just a little. But now, we can know what is collectable and not break the bank for something that is as worthless as gold plated cow dung.

So look before you leap. (Look first to see if there is a cactus where you could land) Don't put all your eggs in the same basket, with a bowling ball. Know what you are buying, before you buy. Then it something turns out bad, What do you do. I'm the type that if I make a bad purchase, I keep it.
Why? To remind me
not to do that again!
