Hi gang. I have found 5 of these. A couple with the start of this hole. Doesn't look drilled on any of them. Almost like a punch? The holes on each coin is approximately in the same spot. Have you seen this before? And any idea what has caused it? Average size of hole is about 1/32 or less And not very round. More geometric, and looks to be original? ( meaning not PMD, as I can see non smooth edging inside the hole like a crater)

Considering the pushed upwards/raised metal around the parameter of the hole, it is a damage.

Coin roll damage? I do see the push for sure. On some of the other coins with similar hole , either the hole has just started or is complete, but all holes are on an angle? Does this make a difference or just a spender?

Spender IMO ... and PMD. I do not believe there is anything in the minting process that could make these holes. If a punch was used, it might mean on the OBV directly opposite the hole would be an area with flattened details. Hard to tell in the picture.

I agree @earle42 that it is a spender.

10/4 on the coin machine markings... thanks coop. But the hole doesn't seem to be attributed to the machine except at the point of intersection Made by arrows.
I will look at the other coins I have with the hole in them to see if the coin rolling machine markings are on them as well.

So, 1/3 has some very light coin roll matching on the obverse. The other two are clean. While the ones with holes do have the upheaval of metal around the hole. This first pic shows the start of the hole( clean obverse) and what appears to be gear smash on the rim? Pic two of similar hole in coin

The hole is just damage to the coin. The cheek area of the jaw is bulging out from the hit on the reverse. All issues are damage, so not a premium coin. I made images of it because I didn't have wrapper damage on a half yet.
