I have been getting a lot of older and harder year coins back in pocket change recently, a whole lot less of the newer stuff. Everytime I get change I'm looking through almost all of them cause I've been getting a lot of older coins. Is it just me or has anyone else experienced the same? I'm in georgia

I have not. If anything, the opposite. My main yardsticks are War Nickels (I have not gotten one in the last 6 months) and wheat cents (I am sure I have not gotten one from before 1950).

The most exciting one so far was a 1950 D nickel, it's in rough shape but I was pretty stoked to get it in change, I actually got a 1946s Wheat penny today also, I'll post pics when I get a chance

I never get change of any kind. I use plastic so much lately I'm not sure how to use cash anymore.

Any change I have received recently has been boring, well-worn modern stuff (with the exception of 2020, of which I have received 2 quarters and a couple of cents). For example, rotting 2013 Zincolns, the non-Lewis-and-Clark nickels from the 2000's, nearly-slick 80's quarters... bleah. I feel like I'm getting shopping mall fountain dumps.

I received a 1952 Roosevelt dime in change at the nearby McDonalds drive thru this past Friday. Snagged a 1912 Canadian dime in change at the same drive through this past past year. It was in XF/AU condition so that was an extra bonus.

Quote: I never get change of any kind. I use plastic so much lately I'm not sure how to use cash anymore. I'm the same way, but it'll be interesting to see if the public actively dumps their coin jars. That might introduce some older coins, assuming they end up in active circulation.

Just yesterday I got a 59 dime, and an 88 S proof quarter in change. Has anyone ever got a proof in change before? Was a first for me

Dakota0404- yes, I've found proofs in change. someone gave me a baggie of change yesterday. I was told it (the money) was for my street kitties. so I searched it, counted it & wrapped it up, took the rolls to circle k & they bought all of it from me. there was $30+ in the baggie, and the only interesting thing I found was a 2015-P homestead quarter with a bit of doubled die evidence in the bottom of window pane L2, which I haven't yet tried to get a pic of. yes, another homestead quarter with DDR has found me.... will post pix eventually.. and yes, I bought $30 worth of cat foods late last night.
