Post mint damage. Not mis-struck, not a mint error, sorry.

I don't think this one is PSD. There doesn't appear to be damage to the reverse and no obvious pressure ridge on either side of the recessed areas on the obverse. What is the weight? Please give us an image of the edge of the coin at TRUST?

Those are little rim Cuds and possibly a planchet flaw between the two. I'm with Pete on this one. The coin isn't out of round and the rims look unaffected. You know what would be the teller is a closeup of LIBERTY and a closeup of the dent on the reverse.

Deliberate damage, I'd say.

The absence of discernable reverse damage (across the full reverse) is very curious. Having the coin's weight would be interesting. Hope we learn more.

If the coin is normal weight, then it could be damage. But I'm thinking this coin is under weight and feel it is a rolling indentation error. SO a weight would be helpful. But I doubt that is is PSD, because if the coin was altered, the opposite side of the coin would show a flattening of the devices.

Quote: The coin isn't out of round and the rims look unaffected I agree with this and am leaning towards not PMD, for the middle indent anyways. Has great eye appeal I think.

Interesting... slightly underweight, but not drastic enough to really guarantee material was removed post mint. Could still be considered a light planchet. Initially, I thought a rotary tool could be the culprit, surfaces smoothed out and then circulated for a number of years. No pressure necessary. This would leave the reverse un-flattened and not leave the coin out of round. If this was a rolling Indentation as pointed out by Adam_E, wouldn't there be some discernible strike weakness on the reverse? I'll let the experts weigh in
