I know the prevailing logic is that one shouldn't slab a coin unless its worth at least $150, BUT what was the least expensive coin you ever purchased that was slabbed?

Doing a slabbed 7070 I picked up a few under $10, but none were as cheap as this one....

YES I picked up a slabbed Wheat cent for $2.00

Don't ask me why some one would slab a low cost Wheat cent, and don't ask me why I picked it up but its only $2, a coffee from Star Bucks costs more.

So what was your lowest cost slabbed coin?

Not sure if you want to include show slabs, but I have a 1968S Jefferson that isn't graded, just slabbed. It is maybe a 65 or 66. Think it cost me $1 but dont recall. Cheapest honest slab I have was about $5, another Jefferson.

Does free count? I have a Washington states quarter (I think) I got for nuttin' from PCGS. A CCF member gave us a heads up about a free slabbed coin a few years back.

$12 for the 275 year old coin that was discussed here: http://goccf.com/t/386336&SearchTerms=ferrara

I think I have 5 slabbed coins in my collection, so I didn't need to do much research ...

If you can buy a slabbed coin for less than the shipping and grading fees, then do so, if it is still a bargain.
The implication is that the coin may not be worth much, but
the fact that someone has paid the abovementioned fees means that the coin therein must be of some value.

If it is a bargain or not, is another question.
Most people I expect, would not buy a coin valued at $2 for the equivalent amount paid for the fees.

In this case though, the $2 paid for a '58D 1C (slabbed), looks to be a bargain.

If ICG slabs count

Christmas day 2018 I won an auction for a 1986 S Kennedy half (PF-69 DCAM) for ....wait for, wait for it.......a BUCK AND A HALF.....with free shipping

That's when I relieved auctions ending mid-day on a major holiday one can snag some great buys (but you better have a forgiving girlfriend or wife...or...)

Well ICG may not count as a TPG.... my LCS has ICG slabs for $1 in the junk bin. But a 1986 Kennedy for $1.50 is a good price no matter who slabbed it.

No pics, but I got a handful of slabs for free from a coin show I went to as a YN about 20 years ago - IIRC, an NGC MS64 British 1964 penny, and a State Quarter in sample slabs from each NGC and PCGS. No idea if they are worth anything at all now.

The absolute cheapest was free in a CCF contest, but I don't think that counts. Beyond that, probably about $15 for a PCGS/NGC War Nickel.

I only have 2 slabbed coins, so that would be my MS63 1921-P Morgan dollar worth around $60. The other one is my MS63 1922-S Peace dollar at around $120.

I saw these, but decided not to bid (a friend did for fun!)... Note that these are PCGS Gold Shield slabs

The seller is in Canada, so factor in the $US exchange rate, and even with a bulk order (to save on shipping), it costs minimum CAN$20 per coin to certify these...

As I was putting the finishing touches on my Proof Type Set, after having spent thousands of dollars on many rare and exotic U.S. coins, it dawned on me that I didn't actually have an example of a proof Wheat Back Lincoln Cent. So I took a quick look on ebay and purchased the highest grade example I could find at a reasonable price:

What-Is-The-Cheapest-Slabbed-Coin-You-Own? What-Is-The-Cheapest-Slabbed-Coin-You-Own?

At a cost of $59, it's the cheapest slabbed coin that I have ever purchased. The cheapest slabbed coin I actually own, however, is a modern Jefferson nickel that somebody included as a free gift when I bought a more expensive coin from them on ebay. I don't have a picture of it since I don't rightly know where it even is at the moment. I have no idea why somebody would even bother getting one of these graded, to be honest, but it was free!
