The D has taken a hit moving the metal.
Not an error as this could not happen during the striking of the coin.

The D is what I was most curious about- as I've never seen it and wasn't sure what it could be from!

It was all that color, but circulation has removed the coating on the higher spots, leaving the color on the lower areas of the coin. (Looks antiqued)

Yea the color I know and understand! That's not my concern! My concern is mainly on the "D" in United! I've never seen 1 do that and REALLY have no clue on it! I'm very familiar with coins but this is a new 1 for me!
I REALLY do appreciate all the feed back- as I'm new here and am enjoying it so far!

The 'D' looks like what you would find on a parking lot coin. Where the device was pressed into sand and pushed the device aside. That is what I'm seeing on that area.
