I have been reading a lot of posts on roll hunting so I finally decided to give it a try. I went and got three rolls of half dollars and two rolls of dimes just to try it. I didn't realize how addicted this was. It was like being a kid again and opening a pack of baseball cards. In the half dollars I did find some okay ones. I found four 1968 D, one 1967, and a 1990 S, all Kennedy of course. Even though there wasn't any Franklin's or any old like that, I was happy with the find. In the dimes I only found one worth keeping and it was a 1953 Roosevelt dime. And now I can't wait to get some more rolls.

Welcome to CC!
You were lucky to half rolls. I can only RARELY ever get those. My last two rolls were a score with like 8 silver though.

Well I just went back and got two more rolls of dimes and ten rolls of pennies. I will let you know if I have any good results.

After you Finnish with those go and get a whole box of pennies. That will keep you going on a rainy day.

Hello all, Question for you. What do you all do with the silver Kennedy's after you have found a bunch of them? Do you just keep them, or sell them after a certain number have been found?

to answer your question tornandfrayed75 I hoard mine, but I considered selling back when silver was high local dealer was paying like 7 times face for 40% and like 12 times for 90%. If silver goes that high again I may sell a couple.

I have went and bought a CherryPickers Guide but I am stil having problems determining if the coin has a doubled die mark on it. I have done research and I can tell on some. In the guide it is hard to tell on most of the writing, it's all looks the same. I can tell on the mint marks. Is there any tips to point me in the right direction? I believe I have found a couple in my rolls but I am unsure if they are. Thanks for the help.

First of all, what are the dates? Second, you would have to post a picture for anyone to tell you for sure. As to advice on how to spot a doubled-die, I'm not experienced enough to begin. I've found one, a 1974 D Kennedy half, in a roll, but it was very obvious with the huge lettering. I also have a question: How often is a doubled die found in years that are not "known." By known I mean like in the Red Book? Basically, is it worth looking at every single coin with a magnifying glass, or should I just pull out dates with known varieties/errors... and check them closely?

The date I was looking at was 1970-D, Roosevelt dime. The problem is that I couldn't tell with the writing due to wear. I thought it was on the letters in the reverse. I can't post a picture until I fix my camera, but that doesn't help now. This is my first time looking for error coins, but I'm sure it will come with time. I wasn't looking at every year, I was looking at the years given in the cherrypicker's guide.
