Would be interested to see what you think happened with this dime. Split planchet is probably not the correct term to use but as you can see there is a groove that goes all the way around the coin. The weight is 1.9.

It has been affected by acid. The acid reacts more with the copper core than the outer copper nickel layers.

I believe it!

During the pandemic last year and beginning months of this year I had to stop loading my Soda Vending machines because nobody was buying soda as much. As a result my stock of coca cola in the cans started leaking because the coke was eating through the cans. My machines were a mess too.. Lots of clean-up.
