I came across this last night. Lincoln is missing the bridge of his nose. Anything special?

I'm not sure if anybody can help without a full image of the coin, and pictures of a computer monitor are less than ideal. Grease-filled die, over-polished die, severely corroded coin are all possibilities, plus probably more.

Pictures of full obverse and reverse. Most likely not a major error or anything worth while.
Suffering from bust half fever.

Maybe overly-aggressive die polishing at the mint?

Nothing special.
Just over polishing of the die. There are other weak spots as well.

Agree with the over polishing assessment. I believe a have two or three of these same '47 S cents in my stash somewhere--saved because of the over polishing issue.

I see suggestions of what happened to the die, but really was has the need to polishing this die that severely? That was because of feeder finder damage to the die. What does that mean? The feeder fingers are what remove the coin from the chamber area. If these fingers themselves get struck:

Note the examples above. These enlarging of the fingers from the strike, are now forced into the normal sized openings on the machine. So it can be the dies/collar that can be damaged when these widened fingers are continuing to be used. With die damage, the machine is shut down, the dies are removed and notice damage on them. They are sent off to be polished. True clashes are also dealt with for damage on the dies. But the feeder finger issues can retire dies if the damage is too deep. Well, this die was polished and that area was affected by the loss of metal on that area of the die. Thus why they are just a die event. Die events shouldn't have much of a premium as they the rest of the life of that die, there will be thousands of these being struck. That is the reason why the die looks that way.

Strong enough overpolishing that I'd say worth tubing up if you keep these. I wouldn't devote a 2x2 to it personally, though.

Zoom in with your phone's camera. You should be able to get in to 5 or 6X which would be fine. Please, no more monitor screen shots. They are useless to us. Thanks.
