No one bid on this coin, and it wasnt the worst one of these I have ever seen. All the ones I looked at were $440 + I just had to hit the bid button at $375 What do you guys think 64 ish? Seller's Pictures, and he didnt go out of the way to angle it to hide things, the way these are usually shot on ebay. .jpg) .jpg) .jpg) .jpg) .jpg)

Pics don't reveal a lot about surface details. I'll tentatively say MS-63.

Tough crowd I guess. First impression for me was MS64

It looks a lot better than an average GSA CC Morgan which is 62 to me. I say easy 63, shot 64 but there's very little price difference between a 63 and 64 so either way you're okay.

While straight on shots are good at showing chatter and scuffs...a slight angle shot can also show any deep hits straight on shots seem to hide or not show. The reverse seems a little lightly struck (eagles breast feathers)(maybe a tilt would reveal more) and the dark bloches at 10 & 2 catch my eye...maybe just insert material? I only have 1 CC morgan...and it happens to be an 82cc GSA (graded before they did them in their original holders)(which I'm happy to have in a regular size slab attributed as GSA) graded at MS63...so maybe I'm being a little critical while not being a Morgan expert. Yours has less obverse chatter than mine but mine has stronger breast feathers on the reverse. Maybe net grade of MS63 as well? I still like your coin...maybe in hand pics can show us more? Was going to post pics of mine but didn't want to hijack your thread...but the real reason is my pic skills stink : ) smat

I'm in with MS63--perhaps a strong one. Looking forward to in-hand photos (sans finger prints).

You may have a fairly scarce VAM critter here. I see the mm with the low second "C" and the die crack in LIBERTY. The obverse is too dark to make out the clashed "N" and just too blurry to make out the die crack on the cap, but those have to be there. IMHO, you may have 1882-CC VAM-3D, a late/very late die state of VAM-3. It's a bit of a tough VAM to find in the later die states, with the heavy clashing and prominent die cracks. The mm style and crack on LIBERTY are the dead give-aways. For grade, I may be the outlier, but I'm not seeing what others must be seeing. The obverse has a couple small dings, the most obvious is on the lower lip. There is light scuffing on the hair over the ear and the back of the cap. Other than that, there are a very few light dings. The cheek marks look like they either are superficial scuffs or are toning. The obverse is at least MS-63, and if the cheek marks are superficial or toning, MS-64. The reverse is fantastic. I see very little light chatter. The rest of what people must be seeing are the die clashes and VLDS die cracks. The reverse looks like a solid MS-65. I'm at a net MS-64/64+ here.

Be sure to determine your VAM with the die clash :) I think it's got a shot at 64, but wouldn't be surprised at 63 either.

Quote: you may have 1882-CC VAM-3D That would be cool if it was, but I looked it up and neither PCGS or NGC will attribute that VAM from the info on their sites. Good catch though. Should be able to tell with better pictures.

I think MS-63 at least, but a weaker strike. The eagle's breast feathers are not well defined, but the luster is undisturbed in this area.

Looks MS63 to me. Better eye appeal than average, as these tend to come in a lower MS. I am not sure if this was a good deal or not. These GSA's have significantly increased in price recently.

the 82(CC) should above average in strike. this one falls short for strike. that with the obverse scratches & marks may hold this one to MS63
