Wow, where to begin?
ANA ID: 3203813 - CONECA ID: N-5637 Clean a coin that may be worth collecting? Please DON'T! When in doubt, leave it dirty!!

That's an interesting fake. I bid on it for my collection but might get taken down before auction ends or I could get outbid as I am only willing to pay so much for coins I pretty much can never sell down the road. I think the only money losing part of my collection are the counterfeits, and while I enjoy collecting them pretty much consider it a money pit as I doubt I ever find a buyer I trust enough to sell them and can be sure they don't get back out on the market.

So what are the indicators for this being a fake?

@jbdc - look at the spacing of the date. Shaved down from a 1940-D, most likely.

Reminds me of the 1944 wheaties that they modify the first 4 to make it look like a 1914.

Now I feel proud. That's what I thought as well, a failed to do the right side cleanly! Thank you for sharing those details.

How many other 1910-D LWCs have you seen?

Definitely a modified 1940-D. You can easily see the traces of the 4. A good lesson to always check the date VERY carefully when buying an unslabbed LWC. If the spacing seems off, it's probably been modified.

The Denver Mint did not produce Lincolns until 1911. I love the statement the seller purports at the bottom of his ebay page.........

Ended by seller. I'm sure he received more than a couple of ""Contact Seller" about this one.
