Not an error,that is impossible to happen during the striking of the coin so it has to be PMD

Hey @ijn, that is a good question. I'd expect to see at least a little zinc on the rev, where there seems to be a pretty deep scratch.

Would love to see a large and sharp image or two of AMERICA. Unsure if that coloration is exposed zinc or a little non-rot crud. Fun.

What concerns me is that there is an appearance of a rim of a smaller coin, but there is no mirror design transfer on the coin. So it wasn't done with a dime. Maybe a piece of plastic pipe may have altered it, without splitting the plating? But the obverse? Not a clue. But I feel this is PSD as it doesn't look like a mint error. I'll send Mike a note about this one. See what he thinks?
