In honor of a recent post (not mine--although I can dream...) commemorating the acquisition of a beautiful 1796 quarter, I am sharing a slightly less nice one (again, NOT my coin--my only bust quarter as of now is a choice F 1825 one), that I doubt has ever been auctioned or sold at a coin show (therefore it can't be looked up!). I am curious if you all agree with PCGS on this one.

I'll take a guess at VF-35.

A lot of scratches and a probable old cleaning. Market acceptable.

VF30 and attractive. Many circulated 1796 quarters have issues and this one doesn't seem to have too many. Where the prior poster sees scratches, I am seeing mint weight adjustment marks. TrueView is more accurately distorted view so I would prefer to see more natural images. Nice coin imho.

I was debating whether or not the marks on the reverse are adjustment marks, but the parallel lines are consistent on the fields and devices. And there are additional scratches all around, so I figured it was all PMD. But there may be a couple adjustment marks in the mix.

A textbook VF30 but that toning might make the grader add a full point for the great eye appeal. So many of these 1796 quarters either look gorgeous (like this one), or just plain ugly.

I say this is a gorgeous naturally toned coin and one that I would be proud to own.

Grade is as suggested by our experts - VF range.

What matters is the history ... and that this lovely 225 year old example still resonates with many of us.

Ditto the others, great looking coin! I'm on the VF 30/35 fence, but I'll stay at VF30.
