Not an error, it has been punched with something.
There is no way that could happen during the striking of the coin.

@jacob, first welcome to CCF. Second, that looks like damage to me rather than a mint error. You can see on the rev where the metal has been flattened by the punch or whatever pressed against Abe's temple.

I just thought it to be odd that the circle is outpresssd that supersedes Lincoln; but the eye is still there and it looks very "machiney*" if you will lol
Hell idk haha, I just received a Wheat penny collection from my Gma and was going through them and figured I'd ask people that know lots more than myself

When an novice individual ;such as myself ,is at the beginning stages of understanding a certain topic. Such as coin collecting, Generally speaking; there's a time in which information is gathered to create a gauge on what would be considered "Common" so.what you consider " Common sense" isn't considered Common to me. I just see the comment as a failed pun opportunity. But hey, huh do I know? Obviously not Wheat penny commonalities.

maybe one of your grandparents was an expert marksmen?

Edit. I meant no disrespect by this comment. It looks very precise but this can't happen during the minting process so it is not an error. Some of us jest but you questions are welcome here.

I see nothing common on this cent. I find it interesting and I am glad you shared it. The fact the eye rolled out like that is cool. I have a bunch of weird cool coins my grandfather left me that sent worth anything but I keep them because I found them interesting and unique. Much like this cent of yours! Here's one I saved

If you look up videos on how coins are made, it will help you determine how something like this is impossible to happen during the minting process.
