I came across this '88 D penny today and I just wanted to get some feedback on this guy! I can see some doubling on the "LIBE" and some on the 8's, but don't know if this is Machine Doubling, or some other worthless effect. I can see it with the naked eye, but it's proving to be a bit more challenging to get a good pic! Here are my best efforts

You mean besides the rough texture of the fields that most likely resulted from Zinc dust on the planchet? Or the fact that this coin was minted using a very tired die as mentioned above?

Yes, Die Deterioration Doubling, and possibly split platting in the immediate vicinity of the mint mark.

Also split plating. A spender. When the zinc gets oxygen, they start to rot and eventually go away for good. Any acid contact with the zinc makes the break down real fast.
