those are often called clogs, this would be a clogged A, but the cause is a chip that has broken off the die where it had been raised above the die surface like a post

I like all the explanations, but why the A is lower then the rest of amric. In design must be line on the bottom.?

The "A" isn't lower.

Shadows on the base of the "C" make it look that way. A straightedge on the bottom of AMERICA will confirm this.
