Vote with your wallet. Sure he is just being defensive and trying to eliminate the time wasters and grazers who never buy in, but will talk your ear off.
It's not a good business model, but will bizarrely appeal to some people and no doubt he (I assume its a he) probably has a group of good customers who give him enough income not to have to cater to unwashed masses.
But its disingenious and a poor advertisement for numismatics and NOT a way to grow the hobby. If you have no people skills and want to be a pompous so and so - don't deal.

Princetane- Obviously you aren't in the Numismatic game.
In the US it is full of cynical old guys that are blunt, rude and have thick skin.
They can be pompous and have no people skills as well.
Of course not all of them, but it is very much so prevalent.
If you don't have thick skin yourself, you cannot hang.
P.s. I befriend all of these people and know how to deal with them, so I don't have a problem and steer away.
These are my best friends and our hobby.

Sounds like he use to be a car salesman and got sick of tyre (no sic required, that's how we spell it here) kickers.

I've bought from them before with no troubles. I find the blunt attitude amusing and somewhat refreshing. Dude's just being honest after all the decades.

It seems to me that the seller is a (mostly honest when circumstances permit), dealer who has developed some impatience, probably? the result of loosing out in divorce proceedings No professional marketer would give bad vibes like this in his advertising.
There are two responses to this sort of situation: 1. Have some patience with the seller, - there is still the possibility of a good outcome, and the buyer gets the coin he wants. 2. Walk away. and save some irritation for you both.
At some time in life, we have all been through adverse conditions.

Nice summary NumismaticsFTW. I do appreciate Princetane's perspective on '...NOT a way to grow the hobby'.

Since when has having good manners and wanting to help and please a customer been a bad thing? NumismaticsFTW - That may be the case in the USA, but in the UK and New Zealand - people like that don't last in business very long. The customer is king.
Sadly you speak the truth, stamp and coin dealers are mainly elderly white men with little or no social skills. Most are very comfortably off and have other income streams, so do not depend on sales of their coins and stamps. I have noticed frequent off hand behaviour at anyone who looks young, female or not dressed like a million dollars and sadly anyone who is not white too. One dealer who I once brought much stuff off, never saw me again after he shouted down a woman with different religious views from his own (She was a Bhuddist, he is a Pentecostalist born again Christian), I never had anything to do with him again as I defended the woman.
Basically if a dealer is a white supremacist, belongs to a hate church or thinks everyone should spend $0000s of dollars on overpriced stuff - I ignore them with the swiftness.
Still a positive helpful dealer is one thing that can stop our hobbie(s) going the way of history. Smiles cost nothing.

I'll defer to the OP on this, but if you do an advanced search of NOPE in titles and descriptions in the category Coins and Paper Money you'll see all his listings.

Maybe he used to work at The Olympia Cafe. No Coke, Pepsi.
He's a small time version of a big company. Ever phoned or emailed a big compamy? You get automated replies. Why do companies do that? Because customers call to complain something is wrong before doing the basics, like first plugging in the unit. Hand holding is expensive, so without it I expect prices to be lower.

Personally, I would never criticize others in writing if I lacked the basic grammar skills to do so. But that's just my opinion.
