1971 D Washington Quarter Full Coin Double Strike On A Nickel Planchet

twohawks Pillar of the Community United States 1551 Posts	Posted 12/20/2022 11:59 pm Yes, this one is a bit of a mouth full, and yes, the description is correct. The coin below I received in change this morning at Star Bucks, and when I was going to toss it into our quarter bucket at the shop it did not feel right. This coin scales in at 4.94 grams or .06 less than a standard nickel but well within normal tolerance. While the images of the date are fuzzy that's because it came from my phone. The coin looks like a hammered high MS coin as well, almost like it came out of an old roll today. Report this Post to the Staff

twohawks Pillar of the Community United States 1551 Posts	Posted 12/21/2022 07:54 am This piece looks to be struck on a Nickel planchet and the coin was struck 2 times. Its diameter is almost a full quarter in size but thin. I will post a few images of the edge in about an hour.
