Hello all!
I know it has been a long time but life gets crazy sometimes lol. I hope you have all been well!

Anyway I have a 1937 Lincoln Wheat cent that at first glance I thought it was just damaged but after looking closer I believe it is actually an error. I believe it is a lamination error or maybe Struck Through Grease... I'm not sure so that is why I am posting it here to get your expertise and input! There is not rim damage or excessive metal build up which is why I do not believe it is just a damaged coin.

Interesting. Appears to be rather serious post-strike damage--perhaps exposure to heat/fire long past. The coin didn't leave the striking chamber in that condition.

The lower bust angle line looks to be a possible lamination. The rest looks like corrosion, from possibly being in the ground for a bit and also damage. This is an old coin and has been through much that we will never know.

Primarily damage, basically a cull coin.

Just an old damaged coin, see all the metal pushed around from hits and what ever.

Looks like a LAM below liberty, the rest is PMD. The PMD negates the LAM.

Note how the outside edge of the coin is distorted. As mentioned, this is damage to a coin. Sometimes cents are used as a screwdriver that alters the coins with damage. So no premium for this one. Just a Wheat cent now.

My first thought was at some point it may have spent some time in a fuse box. Regardless how, severe damage was done at some point.

Adding, even though the damage is present. The Lam issue still catches the eye some what. Thanks, Doug.

I can go both ways on this one. Everything is from a lam, the top fell of long ago like Dearborn said and has wore down. I don't think the coin is out around, like it would be with a hammer strike. ?
