I think it says there are a lot of collectors who like coins that look like this.
Maybe that means there are more collectors uneducated about how to discern a harshly cleaned coin and fair grades?

I'm not really sure what that listing means for numismatics. I don't see it as a harbinger of chaos and decline. As has been the case for thousands of years--buyer beware.

No misrepresentation here, but a shame indeed.

Cleaning coins to scam beginning collectors is the oldest trick in the dishonest sellers book.

Quote: No misrepresentation here The coin images have been digitally altered to hide the coin's condition. ebay has a policy... "Photos that don't accurately represent the item" are not allowed. The problem is that ebay employees are not willing to remove listings like this because they don't have the item in hand to compare with. The seller's negative feedback should discourage anyone from purchasing anything from this seller, but obviously buyers are not checking feedback. If they did, they'd see: "This seller misrepresents the condition of their coins by using a photo filter" "Silver Dollar Pictures/Images are 'PHOTOSHOPPED'." "Seller photos do NOT match what is received!" "Very Deceptive Photos" "FAULSE (sic) PICTURES" "EXTREMELY photo shopped" "Seller edited the photo on this listing to make it so graffiti would not be visible."

The seller has 154 revised feedback, most likely mainly negatives. I have also heard ebay will remove a bunch of them for big dealers like this..
I've been collecting for a couple years... Favorite Coin's are Standing Liberty quarters, Working on my type set | Coffee, Corvettes, Coins & the CCF what could be better?

Holy cow the seller has a lot of those listed! It looks like Liberty had too much cosmetic surgery.

It says more about the state of ebay than anything else. "Top Rated Seller" hahaha. "Please look at the pictures as this is the actual coin you will receive" - I did and my eyes hurt.

I think there is no need to be an expert to see that the photos are at least "strange". Lots of bright light. Apparently there is a certain category of sellers who act according to the "scoundrel dealer" manual.

What are the odds that all of those positive feedback ratings are real? I would say low. That looks like an account built at least partly with bots.
