Fasten your seat belts fellas...dreams to come true. My wife left today to go to a convention, so I went bank trekking to keep myself busy. I saw a You tube video 2 days ago showing a guy with a bag of loose $100.00 halves. When I saw he recovered some 130 silver coins, I couldn't believe it, and thought like others why can't that happen to me. So on a hunch, I called a branch bank I never go to and asked if they had any halves. She said they had $140.00 in rolls but no loose halves. I told her I would be there today. When I arrived, the tellers were very friendly and I was grateful and they sold me $50.00 of nickels. Well here goes.... I had the rolls in a plastic zip tie bag. The rolls looked familiar. Manilla color with "steel-strong" tubular writing. I opened the first and a 1964 BU Kennedy was revealed followed by 19 others. I thought I might Have hit it big. I did. All 280 coins were silver. There were 88 1964; 2 1965;100 Benjies, 90 Walkers. Details to follow.

That is unbelievable! Really looking forward to seeing some of those silver halves in the days ahead. Congratulations, you have hit a coin roll hunting grand slam, possibly on the level of that guy who pulled the gold coin out of a Coinstar reject tray. Once in a lifetime! =)

Holy schnikes! That is fantastic! Having worked in a bank for over a decade I can count on one hand how often silver comes in like that. It is not often, once every couple of years if that. You were truly in the right place at the right time.

I went to four banks in total, the last one gave me these jewels. Each bank gave me 48 or 50 rolls of nickels. So, I have those to go through. I went through the Benjamins, as I have not started an album on them. I was considering buying an uncirculated collection, but with this haul I've reconsidered. I have the following: 1950P; 1951Px2,1951D,1951S;1952Px5,1952Dx2; 1953Dx7;1954Px6,1954Dx2; 1957Px2,1957Dx3; 1958D; 1960D; 1961Px6,1961D; 1962Px13, 1962Dx12; 1963Px16,1963Dx10; and1 Philly without date (looks like intentional damage). Interesting, the only notations on the rolls was one stating, 1934 to 1945 which had all Walkers, and another roll had stamped date, "June 8,1967", and another had 1948 to 1965, which had all Benjamins and a couple of 1964's. Tomorrow, I need to buy an album for the Benjamins.

Is no one curious as to why OP refers to rolls of "nickels" when the topic is half dollars?

And yes, NumismaticsFTW, this story is unbelievable.

Let's think of how those half dollars got to the bank....

A knowledgeable person would never take rolled silver halves to a bank.
So, who took them there?

A thief?
A relative (also a thief)?

or maybe they have been at the bank since 1964.
