Yes extreme die wear with ghosting. That is a fun find.

That is some very severe Die Deterioration. I like it. This nickel doesn't seem to be the same as the one in the link. And the differences don't seem to be caused just by the severe Die Deterioration (because of the die state). Very similar, but subtle differences. -The area to the left of the dome -The horizontal line at Jefferson's eye doesn't appear to be on this coin -The horizontal line at the que (hair tie) is slightly higher on this coin. -The line at the base of "FIVE"

Pete, I can kind of see what you are arguing. For example, the reverse ribbon clash seems to connect with Monticello at a different place on the roof. However, the clash listing seems to be an earlier die state with defined steps and clean lettering. This example has a considerable amount of Die Deterioration melting, and that will definitely shift devices and surface features. In order to really analyze it, I think we would need to take the clash listing and then age it as if all the features were suffering severe radial die flow, and then see where the features ended up.

Typical clashes tend to be very similar. I agree about the Die Deterioration changing the appearance of the die face, but the curved line at FIVE is what is the most convincing to these eyeballs that they are different clashes. The answer probably lies with getting it attributed at Maddieclashes.com.
