Quote: I paid about $5,400 for them (missing just 4 coins); he offered me $1,200. Ouch. From my limited visits to coin shows though, nobody ever seems to have much from Canada. Dealers might see them as a hard sell here. I have no real goals for this year. If I find a nice affordable 1901 10c Proof with Reverse 3 I'll buy it - it's the only coin left from last year's goal, although I've seen that there's a new discovery in the Barber dime transition anomalies. That one might take years to find. Unexpected but wasn't a goal is having another article published in BCCS journal, coming soon to a mailbox near you.

Here is my Q1-2024 update: Quote: #1: Enjoy the FUN Show in Orlando! First time visit. Enjoying the show I did! Although the entrance was very hard to find... I did buy a couple of world coins which I showed earlier on CCF. Quote:#2: Complete my ATB Silver Proof Collection (Dansco Album). I did buy the 2018 and 2019 sets. Two things left to do: 1) obtain a 2020 proof silver quarter set for a good price (ugh) and buy the Tuskegee proof silver quarter. Quote: #3: Complete the "Kingdom of The Netherlands" Type Set. Assembling this set is a slow process. I did recently buy a Willem II Rijksdaalder (1848) in AU53 condition, in addition to several modern commemoratives. The latter should be easier to obtain once I visit The Netherlands again this summer. Quote: #4: Expand the Set of Silver Ducats from The Dutch Republic. I recently obtained a beautiful ducaton of the Province of Utrecht from CCF member beem. Looking for a "Scheepjesschelling" of the same province as well. Quote: #5: Add to the "Symphony Set of Coins" (formerly "Set of Coins of Composers"). This project goes well. I decided to expand the set by not only having coins of composers in the set, but some general, music related commemoratives and medals as well. Quote: #6: Add to the International Birthyear Set Collection. I now have 20+ completed sets and a few partially completed sets. I was able to buy a handful of coins at the NH Coin and Currency Expo in March. Hopefully there will be more to be had at the World's Fair of Money in Chicago this august, which I hope to attend. Quote: #7: Medals from Utrecht. At a Schulman Auction, I recently won a beautiful 1892 bronze medal of Wilhelmina and Emma visiting Utrecht, which is a companion medal to the silver version I already own.

Quote: 1. Spend more time enjoying and looking at my collection, rather than focusing exclusively on filling holes. Use this time to narrow my collecting focus and figure out what items I'd like to sell, trade, or give away. This goal is slipping a bit. It's been a busy 6 months, and I haven't devoted as much quality time with my collection. My collecting focus has also expanded, not narrowed, with the purchase of two Dansco albums: 7070 and 6108 (upcoming CCF topics). But I have found some items in my collection that I can live without and hope to sell or trade in the future. It's been a good 6 months here! I've purchased five Barber dimes, three Standing Liberty quarters, and two Washington quarters. Quote: 3. Fill one hole in my Mint Sets. I've purchased three Mint Sets! Quote:4. Buy or trade for 2-5 modern US coins on my Want List. I've filled a lot of holes so far this year! Quote: 5. Complete another year in my First Spouse bronze medal series set. I just picked up the last set I needed (2008), so I've completed the series! Quote: 6. Continue updating my storage options and photo inventory. Keep existing inventory up to date with new purchases. I've done well at keeping the inventory up to date with new purchases. I still need to migrate coins into my Dansco albums, though... Quote: 7. Encourage family members to become numismatists. Working on this goal, too. I've found some good numismatic gifts. I also led two YN programs in my community this year, and I hope that inspired at least one budding numismatist. If nothing else, they learned about coins!

1. Continue to add early dated/datable coins in the 1400s, 1300s and "decade coins" earlier. 1Q: Brabant 1/2 gros dateable to 1382 2Q: Dated 1473 (Deventer); Florence grossos dateable to 1424, 1453 and 1487; Cologne weisspfennig (1383); Brabant coins (1377) and (1430).
2. Continue to grow collection and knowledge of saints on medieval coins. Last year I added 15 in this theme. 1Q: St. George (Antioch), St. Simeon (Trier), Mary Magdalen (Papal) 2Q: All Italy: St. Anselm (Mantova), St. Appolinaris (Ravenna), St. Antoninus (Piacenza), St. Nicholas (Desana)
3. Continue work on Numista catalog. 1Q: Added about 60 or 70 new coins to the catalog (now at 1213). 2Q: Very active buidling the medieval sections of a number of Italian city states: Genoa, Cremona, Padua, Trento, Aquileia. Also added a lot to Crusader States/Rhodes. Now at 1447!
I'd like to get a bit more disciplined about my spending. 1Q Running about 25% lower than same time last year (not for lack of trying!). 2Q So much for THAT goal (unless I more or less abstain rest of the year).
