Saw a counterfeit 1925 nickel for sale....clearly even states that it is a copy. When I reported it to ebay, I got a response that after reviewing it, that it didn't break any policies.....my mind is blown that a seller can flat out admit in the listing that it's a fake and ebay says that it's okay.

Listing is 135015136654 if anyone wants to have a look.

Just adding pics to this thread so that when this auction comes down (hopefully!), we still have an idea of what this counterfeit looks like:

I thought it was supposed to have the word 'Copy' or 'Replica' on the item?
But unfortunately if you just take a minute to look there are fakes all over ebay - quite a shame.
I have reported many (ten or more) and never got a response from ebay. When I reported a fake slab on ebay to PCGS they didn't care either.

Well, I do like the seller's 'edgy' use of calipers...

They have it listed as "Exonumia". It is not in the Canadian coins category.

I don't understand your problem with this listing. As you say, the seller "clearly... states that it is a copy." The description is accurate; there's no attempt to deceive prospective buyers, so what ebay TOS do you think are being violated? No fraud here.

I don't understand
EBay rules prohibit sales of replica coins, period... no matter what the seller states.
"Dipping" is not considered cleaning...

Fakes are prohibited on ebay, period. That's the one they violated. They will be gone soon.

When you see that a seller of Canadian coins is from China, red flags should blind you.

When on ebay I always filter by Canadian sellers only, but saw this pop up prior to adjusting the filter. Clicked on it as I knew it was a counterfeit right away based on the price.

@classic_coin as others have mentioned any fake is against ebay tos. Not only that, but one day these fakes will change hands and may not be labeled as a fake. Someone is likely to get dupped sometime down the road.

ebay's "report this item" link is now handled by their crack AI program which is almost completely worthless.

I once reported a listing that clearly stated that it was for feedback only (a clear policy violation) and their AI said it didn't violate any of their policies.

Back in 2011 I made a thread for a fake just like this one. Pics for comparison with a real one included:
