I recently got a new Dansco Kennedy half dollar album for Christmas. This album is for the P&D mints only, as I wasn't looking to get into the more expensive silver proofs. As it stands, the route I have taken doesn't seem to be overly expensive to assemble and should be pretty fun. Clad Kennedy halves can still be find both in circulation in many cases, and purchased from coin dealers pretty inexpensively. I was delighted to go out the next day after Christmas to my local coin dealer and purchased some coins. I attempted to find the first 8 coins, since these are the ones that cost the most from what I can tell, due to silver content. Overall, I really like the way this set looks. I've always enjoyed Kennedy half dollars. This was the first Kennedy half I actually had. My Mom gave this to me, knowing how much I enjoy coins. She obviously found it somewhere out in the wild.

Congrats on starting a new chapter in your collection. This one is a fun set to assemble, and once done will be a pretty heavy album.

Kudos my friend! A nice inexpensive set to assemble with only P and D mints. I see you have the 70D mint set only coin. 1987 is also a mint set only issue. I started my set with P and D mints but I hate to have empty holes in my collection so I opted for the clad proofs and silver proofs as well. Still quite affordable until you get to 2010 and up. Then the silver and even the clad proofs skyrocket in cost. I hated to do it but I reluctantly completed the silver and clad proofs up to 2024. Still obsessed with empty holes in this series, I am currently working on the Specimen issues (SP). I still need the king of the Kennedy's, the 1998S Matte Silver. It just wont be complete without this key coin for me. Happy hunting my friend and enjoy the quest!

Enjoy! If you take it to the present, most of the 21st century releases are NIFC. And, if you find any halves in the wild, watch out for the heavily "tossed" casino coins.

I'm doing the Dansco 8166/8167 combo and added a page to 8167 for the collector versions and any type 2 proofs (I'm not at home but I think only the 1981 doesn't have a spot). I think I only need the elusive 1998 mate finish for those.
I picked up 33 silver proofs at FUN (for 24x FV and was able to finish off 8166 and a bunch in 8167.
Side story. I was telling my LCS guy how some guy bought all of the silver proof dimes and quarters right before my turn. He tells me his friend was at FUN and was coming over. The guy walks in and it was guy who bought all of the dimes and quarters. I'm kicking myself for not offering to buy them from him at a little profit. Oh well. Maybe I'll ask the LCS guy to pass on my offer.

I agree the Kennedy albums are a fun project. Some banks will special order a full box for you if you have $500 to play with. It is a great way to keep up with dates, and find an occasional silver, or even a proof, which I have done. Beware though, you may need a wheelcart to tote that box to your car!
