I recently started working on my childhood Lincoln Cent collection that's housed in an H.E. Harris foldrr that ends in 1962. I'm wondering if anyone out there has completed theirs. If so, how long did it take you to finish? Still have it? Do you peridically upgrade? Do you remember the last coin you acquired? How often do you take it out to gaze lovingly at it? What kind of folder/organizer is it in? About 50 years ago an acquaintance took me through his wealthy father-in-law's house and two things really impressed me....1) he had a completed Whitman folder of early Lincoln cents framed and mounted on the wall, and 2) he had a telephone in the bathroom. *** Moved by Staff to a more appropriate forum. ***

My father had 5 Dansco books mostly complete minus the 22 plain and 3 didn't have 1909s(VDB ). And it took a lifetime to complete. And if he was still alive would most likely be doing upgrades to the books as he could. And I do from time to time take them out and look at them.

My story is along the same lines as 16609--a few Danscos, but missing the plain '22, '14 D, and '09 S vdb. Took a few decades to accomplish. And I do 'page' through them now and then.

Started my collection 62 years ago and have all except 09s, 09s vdb, 31s and 22 plain. Will never complete it, but I still get it out and look at it occasionally. They are housed in the old Wayte Raymond coin boards.

Phil310, at least you apparently have the 14-d. I'm focused on acquiring one of those right now. Gonna be costly. Not sure if I should include the 22 plain and 55 doubled die to be regarded as complete.

Most would say not needed but it's your opinion that counts on that one . Those 2 will be expensive. Good luck and happy hunting

I have 2 full sets of the Lincoln cents. You can see them here https://goccf.com/t/416711&whichpage=6#4338310One set has a 1922 weak d, the other doesn't have the 1922 no d. I never considered it needed. I do have 2 1909 S Vdb and 2 1914d. One goes to 2019 and the other goes to 2021. I really wanted to stop as the zincolns are terrible coins, so the album running out of spaces made me stop. Honestly took somewhere around 40 years to complete. I got my first 1909 S VDB about 10 years ago and the latest about 3 years ago. I've updated and will continue updating but there are limits as to what I'll buy raw. So I have maybe 5-10 that I can update but after that the cost may not make it worthwhile.

What kind of folder/organizer is it in? i don't remember if I posted my LWC stuff before or not, but I'm pretty sure there are numerous completed LWC amongst the ccf members; I am not one of them, I lack only the '09-S VDB. money woes means my collection is on hold for the time being, but I officially re-started my LWC collection in the spring of 2019 using the combined coins from my grandpa's handful and my handful of LWC. I purchased a new Warman's folder back then and loaded our coins into it. altogether we had about half. I set out to acquire the rest, it took me about 4 years to get it up to needing just the aforementioned coin, upgrading the worst specimens in the folder as I could, working backwards from the 1950s to the 1940s, 1930s... I maybe have thirty-ish upgraded coins, the rest are avg. circ., which doesn't particularly bother me. i almost never get the folder out as I have pictures to look at. I think the most recent additions to the folder (from a couple years ago) were the '09-S, '14-D, and a few upgraded coins.. a '34, a '37 and a '24-S. i'll get back to it one day, maybe sooner than I think.

I've always collected by date and MM (so I'm not worried about the 22 No D ). My set was started in Whitman folders back in 1972. I recently acquired (very cheaply) a near complete set in a Dansco album which I have combined my set with to make the best set possible. I currently need a 09SVDB to finish it.

I started with a pair of Whitman folders and moved them to Dansco 8100 album 40 years ago. I need the big two—1909-S VDB and 1922 Plain.

My Dansco set is complete - started it back in 1972 or so with Whitman folders, Upgraded to Dansco in 2021 and just finally added the 1909-S VDB just this year. This includes All the proof coins dating back to 1936 to present. (I have no plan on getting the 1909 to 1916 proofs, unless I strike it rich) I also have an OGP set that dates from 1950 to present as well.

Lincoln cents are my favorite coin to collect and I have a Dansco 7100 album that you may have seen on here that I've been working on pretty diligently for the past six months or so. The majority of the Memorial cents are basically complete, besides those pesky 1960 small date and 1970-S small date coins. I do need to upgrade a few of the Memorial cents here and there. I also have the majority of the coins from 1935-1958, which is the last two pages of the Wheat cents collection. There might be 2-3 still missing. The first two pages, which is everything before 1935, are a bit more tricky and I've been trying to take my time where I can and try to pick out nicer coins like in XF condition or around there. A lot of the earlier Wheat cents, particularly the S mint mark coins from the teens (and before) aren't cheap. Not expensive, but not cheap. I will try to add a few of the key dates later on, such as the 1909-S and 1931-S. These seem to be the most reasonably priced ones, as the 1909-S VDB, 1914-D and 1922 plain (which I don't care about personally) are much more costly. I had considered adding the proofs later on, but I don't have the proof album, so I bought a blank cents page to add into the end. That said, I may just convert everything over, bite the bullet and "upgrade," to a Dansco 8100 album, which is with proofs. I'd probably use the 7100 to start over and start building some other kind of set. Not entirely sure. I'm not entirely sold on the proofs yet though, so I think I'll just wait and see what happens after I complete the album later on before messing too much with them. Also, in case you are looking for any kind of inspiration, this is my Lincoln Cent thread: https://goccf.com/t/478309
