The Mint has published an on-sale date for the next issue in the American Liberty silver medal series: August 21st.

( The Laser Beam Privy ASE goes on sale the day before, so I'll get to savor the USM "virtual waiting room" experience on consecutive days. . . )

Interesting piece, cptbilly. I like the designs, but I've given up on the medals - especially at that price.

I really like that design!

I will be getting one. I have to get them all. Easy for me, not needing to buy all the ASE at the same time as others may.

We'll have to enjoy each other's collections vicariously.

BUT I just checked out the design and it is indeed outstanding IMO... I may have to revise my position. dangit

Nice looking coin medal, I don't collect these myself though
Fixed it.

For those who may not know, these are struck on ASE planchets with a smooth collar.

@Morgans Dad, wait until you see the prices for next year's offerings, especially all the gold. What's an 1804 gold dollar 1 oz going to cost?

I am afraid to know.

Hopefully the silver will still be attainable.

It doesn't matter to me - I'm not interested in the Mint's fantasy re-strikes. The first US gold dollar was struck/issued in 1849. An 1804 gold dollar makes little sense to me - especially considering its different design, different size, different weight, etc. vs. the original gold dollars.

If they did the Liberty silver medal in high relief, it might tempt me. It loses a lot of appeal without the high relief.
If they do another classic silver coin/medal, I'd probably line up for it. I did nab a edit Flowing Hair last year. Not a lot of wiggle room in the budget right now though.

The U.S. Mint also plans to offer companion silver medals to the five gold coins. These medals would showcase contemporary designs "inspired by each of the historic coins" and would also incorporate a semiquincentennial privy mark depicting the Liberty Bell and "250."
The five candidates include:

1916 Walking Liberty half dollar
1916 Standing Liberty quarter Dollar
1916 Mercury dime
1804 Silver Dollar (Class I Version)
1907 Saint-Gaudens High-Relief Double Eagle

Best of Mint 2026 Semiquincentennial Gold Coins

During the CCAC meeting, Mint officials indicated their plan to offer 1-year-only Best of Mint 2026 Gold Coins, which will:

Be composed of 24k gold.
Faithfully represent the original historic designs.
Feature their original dates of issue.
Come in fractional formats that approximate the size of the original coins (1oz., 1/2oz., 1/4oz., and 1/10oz.).
Have an uncirculated finish.
Feature a semiquincentennial privy mark showcasing the Liberty Bell and the numerals "250."

I don't disagree with you, except the flowing hair dollar turned out so good. I would have loved two 2026 proof or unc sets made with 1926 and 1826 designs (like the 1908-1998 Canada). Or imagine those sets in gold.
