I'm in the process of assessing a neighbor's collection that he inherited from his father. All coins are raw as this was assembled back in the 1960s or so. My photo set up isn't great, especially for shiny, uncirculated coins so these are the best that I can do. I'm interested in opinions from the hive here as to grade as well as any potential issues which might result in a details designation should he send them in for slabbing. Thx! Here is an 1955 DDO Cent: "If you climb a good tree, you get a push." -----Ghanaian proverb

The more I look at this cent the more I like it at VF35. (with a chance at XF40)

I would send this in for slabbing I've watched a lot of these being auctioned off. And from what I've seen the slabbed coins always sell for more money. I think because of trust. With this one being highly faked.

I would go VF. This coin needs to be in a top tier TPG holder. Value is arguably ~$1500 and would definitely be easier to sell certified as there are tons of Chinese counterfeits out there.

I'm seeing AU-50 that red hue might get it AU details environmental damage. ANACS 5 business days $36 ship/insurance round trip $54 they take 5 or 6 days to ship back but you get an email usually within 2 1/2 days giving the grade. NGC PCGS CACG twice the amount 5x the wait. The auction results from an ANACS slab would likely wash out what's spent getting it graded by the big 3 it's classic break even scenario. 8 years ago you could get an attractive AU details for under $900 an ugly harshly cleaned XF- AU under $700 those days are gone they've doubled since.

I'm wondering if the look of these coins is due to the photos. can you confirm this is what the coins look like in hand?
i have it at VF35 and another candidate for conservation just to preserve the coin. this one imo would grade straight as is. its a nice example of a highly priced coin

I'm not good at grading or giving advice about TPG but.......Wow.. I get excited every time I see one of these 55 DDO cents. Amazing.

High-end VF, might crack low end XF. What a cool find!
