Im just wondering what everybody collects. Modern stuff? Bust type? Commems? Old paper money? tokens? What is it?
I have a type set (US) a collection of tokens from traverse city, MI (my home town) really old foreign and obsolete notes. Along with any other random thing that I really like.

For me, I think an easier question to answer would be what don't I collect.
In a nutshell, I collect round metal discs and rectangular squares of paper with pictures mostly of dead people and/or places on them.
I have a problem focusing on just one thing. I collect coins and paper money from any era and any country. I have some tokens and fantasy pieces as well.

I love Indian Head pennies, but I had to sell most of them to cover rent. I also have a small collection of low ball worthy coins. Give me the junk!

Hmmm....Lets start with Australia first. Half pennies, pennies, threepence, sixpence, shillings, florins, crowns, 1c, 2c, 5c, 10c, 20c, 50c, $1, $2. India - 1/12 anna, 1/2 pice, 1/4 anna, 1 anna, 2 annas, 4 annas, 8 annas, 1/4 rupee, 1/2 rupee, rupee US - IHC, Lincoln cents, Jefferson nickels, Roosevelt dimes, Washington quarters, Kennedy half dollars, Peace dollars and Morgan dollars. All of the above I am trying for as complete sets as possible. All the Australian decimal sets are complete and up to date. The pre-decimal sets need work, but it is getting pretty expensive to add too. Many of the Us sets are well on their way, with a couple nearly complete. Much thanks needs to go to fellow forum members for that achievement, especially xshift and DVCollector. The Indian sets are difficult, as it is hard to find the coins. But that is half the fun. I am also putting together a world type set of George V coins which has become my primary interest at the moment. And then there is all the 'extra' stuff that somehow finds its way into the collection with no rhyme or reason. Oh, and I also have a sizeable collection of banknotes, which is quite strange as I don't consider myself a collector of notes.

I would have to agree, any interesting coin is what I like to collect. Which to me means pretty much everything. Adam

I only wish I collected just one thing. Nope, I collect whatever catches my attention. I like odd things... one of my more recent purchases was a hundred trillion dollar note from Zimbabwe, just because it was cool...I'm probably going to get a 3 cent piece soon, just because...
though what I really need to do is go through what I already have, as I've collected for years on more of a passive basis, ie pulling things from circulation at face value to fill the holes in my books...lots of holes, mind you. I've only recently thought about getting into error coins, die varieties, etc. and have yet to really sit down with what I already own and look through it with that critical eye.
That's what I like about coins though, is there's so many facets to it. Even the same exact coins can mean different things as your knowledge of the hobby progresses.

Don't forget to look at the What our Members Collect page. If you want to be added to the list there, fill in the form at the top left of the page.

I have a original 1000$ confederate bill, so I would like to know how much is it worth? The bill is 176 series but it's not look like the one on http://www.crutchwilliams.com/BogusCSA_RoTx.htmlI can send you a picture if you want, because I'm confused... Looking forward to hearing from you...
