I am trying to decide what series of coin to concentrate on next. I have most of all the modern coins from 2011-1900 except a few key dates here and there and now I am stuck. I have some SLQ that I still need and a few Jeff Nickles that need picking up but I can get these whenever. What I am not sure about is starting a set from the 19th C. I do have some Capped busts, about 6 years so far, I have V- nickles, not many that go back into the 19th C, a couple of Trimes but that's pretty much it except for my Morgan collection :-)

An idea that wouldn't break the bank could be a set from the Phillipines... They are beautiful, and also a part of U.S. history...

I think Seated coinage is really beautiful and Half Dimes and dimes (commons) should be easy to pick up for under $15 each.

Barber dimes That's what I am working on currently and am loving them. The only downside is there are a few even in lower grades that are not exactly cheap. That can be said with any series though ;)

How about Canadian cents? They dip back all the way to the 1850's. with mycrob about the Seated Liberty dimes and Half Dimes, too. Definitely fairly inexpensive for 150 year old coins!

Twenty Cent pieces, there are only seven for a complete set. Once you get the 1876-CC the rest of them are easy. They won't break the bank but you'll need to own one to afford the complete set. LOL! If you like coppers try the Half Cents, Classic Head 1809-1829 and Braided Hair 1840-1857 or large cents, Coronet Head 1816-1839 and Braided Hair 1839-1857 are reasonable up to VF for the Half Cents, up to F-VF for the Classic Head large cents and up to VF/XF for the Braided Hair large cents. As with just about all of the various coin series' there are some dates which are difficult if not impossible to acquire without very deep pockets. ANA LM-3175

It would help if we knew how big your bank was.
I was going to suggest the Braided Hair large cents 1840 - 1857. These are pretty easily affordable up to XF. The early years are a challenge to find but affordable. The most expensive would be the 1857 but even that one shouldn't break the bank in XF.

Why not IHC's? What are you looking to spend per coin?

Quote: I have most of all the modern coins from 2011-1900 except a few key I found that odd that you went in reverse. Most would have said from 1900 to present. My suggestion too. However, first I'd go for completing any present series I started. I'd want to get all Mercury dimes completed before starting a Seated Liberty dime set. Easy for me to say but far from what I do. I start all coin Albums for all denominations and many duplicates. It is called an illness I suspect.
