Which coin is really grinding your gears to obtain? For me, it's definitley trying to find or purchase a 1914D wheat.

The last coin to "grind my gears" was my 1847-D $5 Gold coin.

But I am just starting to change my Morgan dollar Date set to a Morgan dollar Full set, so there will be plenty of "gear grinders" in there

I am having such a hard time to find an XF-40 1885 Indian cent. The hole in my album is making me crazy. I found an AU one at a recent show but it was over-priced and the seller wouldn't negotiate.

Im missing 1885 and 1886 as well:/ not too worried about the grades yet, but I do consider it. I have 1887 through 1907 basically.

Fuzzy, a Morgan dollar full set will be quite the challenge but, sounds like you have a decent start.
My next big step will be a 1793 Wreath Reverse Large Cent for the Dansco, but not for awhile.

I have a complete Morgan date set plus some extra date/MM coins. To organize them better, figured a full set album would be best. Oh, I realize some may be out of my "comfort zone" in price.

It took me a long while to acquire a nice 1970-S small date for my Lincoln Memorial collection.

All Lincolns.... 1915 S, 1920 D, 1920 S, & 1928 S....in MS63 with at least a hint of red or better....that are not spotted, toned, weakly struck....and affordable. These are the last of the coins needed for my Lincoln set.

I have never been stuck looking for a particular coin.
I am an opportunist, and will buy anything that seems excellent value for money.
That has been my strategy for the last 30 years, and I have found that is the most efficient way to build value into your collection.

2012 ASE SanFransisco set - OOP - they just got here the other day

Seriously:
1998 S Matte Proof JFK - they are beautiful
A Seated Liberty dollar for type set

But I still will likely put these off for awhile until I get another task in another hobby finished - it keeps me motivated to keep going - the coins will be my reward!

I follow Sel's strategy, but I really want a Morgan dollar--any Morgan dollar--in AU, and every time one comes close, it slips out of my grasp. I'm trying to follow up with a coworker right now who's selling one.
