I like the toning on this 1889 Morgan, although I can't decide if it's a slider AU or a lower MS coin yet.

Looks to have some nice textile toning (cross hatch pattern.)

I think it's probably a VAM 8, but need coin in hand to verify the cotton boll die lines.

Coin is raw. Seller pictures.

I love the toning. The high points of the hair are weak, but the reverse looks fully struck. I would go lower MS.

Too many scratches and digs to the obverse to be AU, lower MS for sure.

This coin could grade anywhere from AU58 to MS62. The obverse looks like a AU58 with the reverse very clean much like a high grade coin. If I had to assign a grade from photo, I would go with AU58.

The area to the right of the date is affected by fingerprints, not textile toning.

I'd call it a slider and would grade it 63.

I think that was someone picking at crud with a toothpick or something. When you blow it up you can see the marks clearly.

Seller was advertising coin as BU, which to my cynical mind means AU most of the time on auction sites, but this is not a seller who sells lots of "BU" coins, so this one might be a legit MS. I paid AU money for the coin, so either I got what I expected or I scored a small victory.

Took a couple more pictures now that I have coin in hand. This thing is photo-resistant, I can't make the toning look pretty easily. Reverse is actually semi PL, obverse is ..well, it is. I think MS62 at the best.

MS-61.

Obverse looks like is starting to show some wear on the hair above ear, reverse is still solid MS.
