I hosted a few friends last night for a "Coins 'n' Beer" evening... Here are some coins a good friend brought for 'show-and-tell' that you will rarely ever see as individuals, let alone a handful... Four PEI holey dollars, three PEI dumps (from holey dollars), and one holey dollar with a French dump hammered back into it. Oh yeah, a Lees 4 token to boot... Quote: Which country are these from because they are not Australian holey dollars ? PEI is short for Prince Edward Island, a province in Canada. Those coins are pre-confederation and at that time PEI was a British colony.

This is interesting, I never knew that there were other Holey Dollars and Dumps besides the Australian Proclamation coins. That is the beauty of numismatics, there is Always something new to discover Are there any other countries other than Canada and Australia that did this before they had their own official coinage? The last time I had a Beer and Coins evening we were playing Poker

Quote: only thing that beats good coins is good company. congrats on both! Which is why we do this about once every two months... there are six of us who gather together, all numismatists and collectors alike, and sometimes it is a game of oneupmanship... we either BBQ or cook up a big meal, start sipping wine or beer at about 3 pm and after we eat, the coins come out. Bob Forbes used to do this with Warren Waxman and Sid Belzberg in the Toronto area... now imagine THAT table of coins being passed around!! For us, finding good friends in the hobby makes the hobby that much richer and enjoyable... Those PEI coins belong to the person who wrote the book on holey dollars. Also, the Twoonieman comes to the coins and beer, he is also quite the chef... this past Saturday evening, he not only cooked the meal in my kitchen, but he then put this set down in front of us!! Beautiful coins!

Totally agree with you on the meeting part! I meet only with one other right now and we have a pretty informal "show and tell" session.... which has been fantastic and fun and a great friendship has developed over the years....
Thank you for sharing SPP those are some really nice pieces
